New to Myrtle Beach for 2011

Lots of changes on the way for Myrtle Beach and we couldn’t be more excited!  Myrtle Beach will be welcoming with open arms several new and exciting attractions & restaurants this season!

First up is the brand new SkyWheel Myrtle Beach slated to open in May 2011. This 200-foot tall giant wheel will be the highlight of the Myrtle Beach Oceanfront Boardwalk and Promenade. The observation wheel will offer some of the best panoramic views of the beach and surrounding areas. Set just below the SkyWheel, Landshark Bar & Grill, owned by the folks at Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville will also open this summer.  This beachy restaurant will feature the cocktails you would expect in a fun, casual atmosphere.

Broadway at the Beach has a few new restaurants in the works as well as a new attraction that is redefining the skyline. WonderWorks, an “amusement park for the mind” has 50,000 square feet of unbelievable sights and exhibits that are sure to blow your mind. Shuttle landing simulators, a hurricane shack and an amazing 4-D Extreme Motion Ride are just a few of the over 100 exhibits in the four stories that make up this amazing new attraction.

Just across from Broadway at the Beach Legends in Concert has almost completed their Las Vegas-style theater next to Planet Hollywood. After 15 years at their Surfside Beach location, they will relocate the famous show to a completely renovated 600-seat showroom.

Say good-bye to Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede and hello to a new pirate-themed dinner show in its place. The new theme, Pirates Voyage, features pirates battling in full-sized ships within an indoor water lagoon. A feast is included while cheering on your side to victory in the transformed theater. Pirates Voyage will open in June.

2011 will be nothing short of a big year in Myrtle Beach!

Couple Spotlight

Couple Spotlight:
Holly Unroe & Scott Keatts

Married: September 25, 2010
Ceremony: Breaker's Deck
Cocktail Hour: Tikis Pool Deck
Reception: Palmetto's Pavilion

Their Story

Science has proven that opposites attract, and they are no different. They both started off working at Ripley’s Aquarium and that was about all the similarities at first. Holly was a camp counselor who ran around in a tie dyed shirt with screaming kids wreaking havoc throughout the aquarium. Scott was an Educator who enjoyed a quiet time in the tunnel when the camp kids weren’t hitting the stop buttons. As chance would have it Holly switched departments and ended up under the tutelage of Scott to learn the ways of the Education department. However after training her and setting her off on her own he had to find ways to mingle with her.
During time of leisure at the aquarium between rotations Scott would find himself gravitating toward the station that Holly was working. After a while of this mild stalking he finally asked her to hang out on personal time. More opposites were discovered, while he is a Red Sox fan, he found himself watching her Yankees. He doesn’t like the black and gold of the Steelers but she has the terrible towel and is not afraid to use it. These opposites do have a powerful magnetic attraction; except for game day where you will find us on opposite sides of the couch. Her sports fancy was clear during their first date when she kept looking over her shoulder to see VT Hokies on the big screens of Liberty Tap Room. But after a rocky start with an interesting first date at the beach (ask Holly for more details) it proved to be the beginning of a long and beautiful journey that is certain to continue for many lifetimes.

The bridal party walked down the aisle to Canon in D then Holly walked down the aisle with her Dad to "Kiss the Girl" from the Little Mermaid and it was magical!

2011 Bridal Expo

This past Sunday January 30, 2011 we exhibited at the Myrtle Beach Bridal Expo.  We had so much fun and met some wonderful couples!  I went with the tropical motif because to me it is the perfect representation of Kingston Plantation.  Our resort is located right on the sparkling white sand beaches.  The pool decks and terraces are surrounded by lush palmetto & palm trees, hibiscus flowers and other tropical shrubs.  Kingston is a vibrant, fun resort throughout the summer with endless possibilities for family fun and intimate moments!

Let me know if you see anything you like!
